Ingredients:
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 2 cups + 2 tsp. hot water
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 3/4 cup raisins
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
Directions:
- Mix 2 cups brown sugar, 2 cups hot water and 1 Tablespoon solid shortening in a pan.
- Add 1/2 to 3/4 cup raisins, 1 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Boil 5 minutes.
- When COLD, add 3 cups flour and 1 teaspoon baking soda dissolved in 2 teaspoons hot water.
- Bake at 350°-375° in a greased bundt for 45 minutes or a greased tube pan for 1 hour.
