Pie Crust with Shortening

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 1/4 cup shortening

Directions:

  1. Mix flour and salt in large mixing bowl. Cut in shortening with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Use what you need for recipe and store rest in airtight container for up to a week. No refrigeration needed.
  3. Single Crust: 1 1/2 cup mix and 3-6 Tbsp. water.
  4. Double Crust: 2 1/4 cup mix and 4- 8 Tbsp. water.
  5. Measure flour mix needed for pie into a bowl.
  6. Sprinkle needed water over mix, a tablespoon at a time.
  7. Toss lightly with a fork until mixture comes together to form a ball. Do not over mix.
