Ingredients for the crust:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cold and cut into 1/2-inch cubes
Ingredients for the filling:
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped nuts
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter 9×13-inch baking pan. Line with parchment paper so ends overhang by 2 inches on 2 short ends.
- To prepare crust, whisk together flour, brown sugar and salt. Add butter and mix using pastry blender or a fork until combined. The mixture will be crumbly but will hold together when pinched.
- Press crust mixture evenly into prepared pan.
- Bake 15 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Set aside.
- To make filling, place eggs in large bowl and beat lightly. Add maple syrup, butter, brown sugar, sugar and salt, stirring until combined. Stir in nuts.
- Pour filling over partially baked crust. Bake 30 to 35 minutes, or until filling is set.
- Cool bars to room temperature in pan. Using overhanging parchment paper, lift onto cutting board and cut into bars.
