This recipe won blue ribbon at the West Virginia State Fair
Ingredients:
- 1 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/16 tsp. salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1/4 cup canola oil
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 425 F. Oil an 8×8 pan.
- Mix all dry ingredients. Add liquids. Stir just to mix.
- Bake 30 minutes until golden brown.
- For added fun, bake your cornbread in a cast-iron skillet.
