Creamed Chipped Beef

Ingredients:

  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • To taste black bepper
  • 4 ½ oz. dried beef sliced, rinsed
  • For serving Texas toast, toasted

Directions:

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add butter. When the butter is melted and begins to bubble, add flour and mix to combine. Simmer the roux for 2 to 3 minutes to cook away the raw flour taste.
  2. Next, add the milk and stir or whisk to combine. Add black pepper and the chipped beef to the white sauce and simmer for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  3. Serve over toasted bread, biscuits or hashbrowns.
