Blue Cheese Stuffed Burgers
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs. lean ground beef
- 3 oz. cream cheese, softened
- 1/3 cup crumbled blue cheese
- 1/3 cup bacon bits
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 1 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 Tbsp. water
- 1 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
- 6 hamburger buns, split
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 6 Romaine leaves
Directions:
- Shape beef into 12 thin patties.
- Combine the cream cheese, blue cheese and bacon bits; spoon onto the center of six patties. Top with remaining patties and press edges firmly to seal.
- Combine the salt, garlic powder and pepper; sprinkle over patties.
- Grill burgers, covered, over medium heat or broil 4 inches from the heat on each side until a thermometer reads 160 F and juices run clear, 5 to 7 minutes.
- Meanwhile, in a large skillet, sauté mushrooms in oil until tender. Stir in the water and mustard.
- Serve the burgers on buns with mayonnaise, romaine, tomato and mushroom mixture.
