Perfect for preparing the Thanksgiving turkey!
Ingredients:
- 1 brining bag or large lided pot
- 1⁄2 gallons fresh water
- 1 1⁄2 cups kosher salt
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups orange juice
- 1 cup apple juice
- 2 tablespoons garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1 teaspoon basil
- 1 teaspoon parsley
- 1 tablespoon cracked black pepper
- 5 bay leaves
- 1 large apple, cut up
- 1 large orange, cut up
- 5 garlic cloves, minced
Directions:
- Place all the ingredients in a pot. Bring to a boil.
- Once the mixture has boiled, remove from heat and allow to cool completely before proceeding to the next step.
- Place turkey in a brining bag, or large pot that will accomodate it and the brine. Pour brine over the turkey and set aside for 16-24 hours.
- Remove turkey from the brine. Pat dry and remove any excess salt. The turkey is now ready to be cooked in your prefered manor.
