SALEM, Ohio — Wind Turbines of Ohio LLC, located in Salem, Ohio, is the exclusive dealer of the Skystream wind turbines for eastern Ohio, offering sales and installation.
After researching renewable energy and noticing the increasing costs, owners Greg and Mary Courtney realized they needed a more economical way of producing energy. They invested in a Skystream turbine and were so impressed with its electrical production, they agreed to be a distributor/installer for Southwest Wind Power.
Wind Turbines of Ohio LLC has only been in business a short time, but with electrical rates expected to nearly double over the next few years, the Courtneys said, “We feel the public will be searching for ways to make their home more self-sufficient.”
They explained, “Increased energy costs are going to force people to find alternative ways to heat, cool and light their homes. The wind blows freely and the turbine begins to produce electric in only 8 mph wind and has the potential to produce up to 400 kwh per month with only an average wind speed of 12.3 mph. With a 20-year expected life span, these turbines are a great investment.”
The Courtneys are confident they’re business will grow. With land grants available for 50 percent of purchase and installation costs of the turbines, and the tax credits as well as the money saved on energy expenses, “I see great potential for all alternative energy sources in the future,” Greg said.
In closing, Greg and Mary said “If you are a person, farm or company that is concerned about your environment; if you want to save money and ‘go green,’ this is one of the least expensive ways to accomplish that goal. You begin to receive an immediate return on your investment.”
