BURBANK, Ohio — Barbecue, bull riding, and barrel racing– a winning combination that can’t be beat for one business.
Buckin’ Ohio is located at 8254 Garman Road in Burbank, Ohio. The business is owned by Denny and Eileen Thorsell, who built the operation from the ground up.
Buckin’ Ohio is celebrating its seventh year. The entertainment begins at 4 p.m. and ends around 9:30 p.m. Saturday nights, June 27, July 25, Aug. 22 and Sept. 19. And every Friday night before the Saturday bull riding events, the ranch opens for visitors to see the Old West Town, enjoy musical entertainment and barbecues.
The rodeo business offers family entertainment including bull riding, barrel racing, mutton bustin’, and award-winning barbecue.
The crowds continue to grow each year, with between 1,800 and 2,000 people attending each event in 2008.
Buckin’ Ohio attributes the record-breaking attendance last year to the ability to offer group rates and corporate outings. Plus, said Eileen Thorsell, more people are looking for things to do closer to home and a continuing interest in the old west life style.
“That’s what prompted us to add a small western town, making the western experience come to life,” she added.
Buckin’ Ohio is keeping its prices the same as last year and are opening the ranch on Friday nights with a barbecue before the Saturday night bull riding events for “Friday Night at the Ranch.”
