TALLMADGE, Ohio — Rev. Dr. George Hazlett, 74, passed away Jan. 18, 2014.
Rev. Hazlett was born in Youngstown, Ohio, and lived in the area since 1990. He wrote articles for Farm and Dairy, his hobbies were John Deere tractors and restoring cars.

He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron and his doctorate of theology from IUIT Seminary in Orlando, Fla.
Rev Hazlett was also an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene. He and his first wife, Myrna, were Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus in the area for 10 years.
Rev Hazlett was preceded in death by his first wife, Myrna A.; and a sister, Shirley Kreinbrook.
He is survived by his wife, Jan Armstrong Hazlett; daughter, Karen A. McLaughlin, of Salem; sons, Paul R. Hazlett and Dale Hazlett, both of Hartville; a sister, Nancy Kellgren, of Boardman; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held 4 to 8 p.m. Jan. 21 at the church. Celebration of life services were held at 11 a.m. Jan. 22 at the Southeast Church of the Nazarene, 771 Dunbar Road, Tallmadge, Ohio, with Pastor Terry Schmelzenbach officiating.
Burial will be at Mt. Peace Cemetery in Hartville, Ohio.
In lieu of other remembrances, donations may be given to Nazarene Compassionate Ministeries.
