EAST ROCHESTER, Pa. — Leroy Howard Baker Sr., 89, of East Rochester passed away April 8 at Salem Community Hospital.
Baker was born May 7, 1923, in Newtown Square, Pa., to Howard Daniel and Lucellia (Humphrey) Baker.
He was a farmer and lived most of his life in the area. He graduated from Augusta High School. Leroy belonged to the VFW in North Georgetown. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Edith “Sis” (McNichol) Baker, at home, whom he married June 4, 1949. Other survivors are Christine Ann Baker, Leroy H. Baker Jr., Linda Shannon, Jeffrey A. Baker and Todd D. Baker; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren, all of East Rochester, Ohio.
Preceding him in death was a brother Jay W. Baker, and a baby sister, Jessie.
Graveside services were held April 11 at Grove Hill Cemetery where military services were performed by the VFW, DAV and the American Legion.
