EAST ROCHESTER, Ohio — James Holwick Pidgeon, 72, of East Rochester, Ohio, passed away March 2, 2014, at his home following an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 23, 1941, in Salem, the son of the late James Arthur Jr. and Betty Jane Pidgeon.
Jim attended Salem High School and was a 1960 graduate of Mercersburg Academy, Mercersburg, Pa.
Jim was a life-long beef, dairy, and crop farmer as well as co-owner and operator of the Church Budget Monthly Mail Co. in Salem for more than 40 years.
Jim is survived by his four children, Kimberly Shipbaugh, Amy Deitz, James Pidgeon and Eric Pidgeon; his brothers, Barry Pidgeon and Michael Pidgeon; eight grandchildren; and 12 nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Wanda Sue (Helmick) Pidgeon and his dog and faithful companion, “Buddy.”
Funeral services were held March 6 at Stark Memorial Funeral Home, Salem, Ohio.
Interment was in Grandview Cemetery.
