MINERVA, Ohio — Homer Unkefer, 98, of Minerva, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013. He was born Feb. 27, 1915, in Minerva, Ohio to the late Charles and Jessie (Jarrett) Unkefer.
He was the president of Homer Unkefer Farm Machinery in Minerva; was a 1934 graduate of Minerva High School where he was an alumni and hall of fame member; a 1939 graduate of Ohio State University where he was a member of the Delta Chi Fraternity; a U.S. Air Force Veteran of WWII; member of the Minerva Eagles Aerie #2199; the Minerva Historical Society; helped found and was a director of Consumers National Bank, and was a member of the Minerva YMCA.
He was also a member of the Minerva First Christian Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Frances (Corson) Unkefer who died May 21, 2009; a sister, Mae Greenwood; and three brothers, Harry, Frank and Orin Unkefer.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda Simms of Lake Mohawk; and a son, Greg Unkefer of Alliance.
Funeral services will be held Oct. 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the Minerva First Christian Church with the Rev. Dale Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.
