DARLINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — H. Wayne Hammond Jr., 80, of Darlington Township, died June 19, 2016, in Friendship Ridge.
Born December 26, 1935, in Beaver Falls, he was the son of the late Harry Wayne Sr. and Margaret “Peg” Moore Hammond.
He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Darlington and had retired from the former Babcock & Wilcox Tubular Products Co., Koppel Plant with 31 years of service.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had served during the Korean War.
Hammond was a member of the Ohio Wagon Train Association, Little Beaver Lions Club, and a 60-year member of the Fairview Grange.
He enjoyed selling subscriptions to the Farm and Dairy newspaper for 45 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Hammond.
Hammond is survived by his wife of 59 years, Emma L. Ewing Hammond, three daughters, a son, and their spouses, Cindy Shaffer, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Tim Hammond, of South Beaver Township, Pennsylvania, Tracy Betts, of Lisbon, Ohio, and Wendy Hammond, of Lisbon, Ohio, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received June 23 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home, www.hillandkunselman.com., 3801 Fourth Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls, where the service will be held at 11 a.m. June 24 with Rev. Lee Bittner officiating.
The Veterans Honor Guard will meet at the funeral home at 11:10 a.m. June 24 to conduct full military honors.
Interment will follow in John Anderson Memorial Cemetery, Raccoon Township.
