LISBON, Ohio — George F. Kornbau, 88, of Lisbon died at 12:57 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016, at the Salem Regional Medical Center in Salem.
He was born May 17, 1928, in Lisbon, the son of the late Charles and Mary Elizabeth (Coleman) Kornbau. A lifelong farmer, he raised Ayrshire cattle and Belgian horses. He was a member of the Belgian Draft Horse Association, the Columbiana County Farm Bureau, Ohio Auctioneers Association, the Columbiana County Agricultural Society and the Ohio Maple Syrup Producers. Mr. Kornbau attended the Zion Hill Church of the Brethren.
His first wife, Bernice (Boozell) Kornbau, whom he married June 10, 1950, preceded him in death on Feb. 10, 1983.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor “Ellie” (Wilson) Kornbau, whom he married Sept. 17, 1983; a son, William Kornbau of Salem; four daughters, Ruth Ann Shultz of Painesville; Nancy Inama of Uniontown; Jane McCoy of Eight Mile, Alabama; and Rosemary Pyron of Montgomery, Alabama; a sister, Rebecca Lopatka, of Eustis, Florida; 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. A brother, Virgil Kornbau also preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Harsh officiating. Calling hours will be held Dec. 20 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Woodsdale Cemetery.
