BELOIT, Ohio — U.S. Veteran Frederick “Pete” E. Schoeni, 85, of Beloit passed away in the early morning Nov. 11 at Pleasant View North in Damascus.
Schoeni was born Aug. 9, 1924, the son of the late J. Fred and Laura (Grove) Schoeni.
Schoeni was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as a paratrooper. A lifelong farmer, he was a supporter of West Branch Future Farmers of America and the Columbiana County 4-H Steer Club.
He was a member of the George D. Worth American Legion Post, involved in the Knox Ruritan Club, a 70-year member of Mile Branch Grange, a member of Sebring Masonic Lodge #626, Tadmor Shrine Valley of Akron, a West Branch Hall of Fame Honoree and a member of the Salem Square Wheels and Farm Bureau.
He was also a member of Bethel United Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife Violet (Myers) Schoeni whom he married April 18, 1944, his four daughters: Barbara Peters of Alliance, Bonnie Pinkerton of Alliance, Patty Brogan of Beloit, JoAnne Meier of Beloit, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He is also survived by two brothers Dale Schoeni of Beloit and Kenny Schoeni of Bowling Green, Ohio.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters: Evelyn Hoopes, LaVerne Mani, Lela Mae Denny and a son-in-law Richard Pinkerton.
A funeral service was held Nov. 14 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home with Rev. Alecia Schroedel officiating.
Masonic services and Grange services were held Friday.
