EAST PALESTINE, Ohio — Carl M. Lipp, 88, of East Palestine, passed away Jan. 7 at his home. He was born Aug. 23, 1924 on the family farm in East Palestine, the son of Curtis and Nina (Cunningham) Lipp.

A graduate of Springfield Township High School, Lipp retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation. He was a school bus driver for Springfield Local School District for 26 years. He was also a farmer on the family farm all of his life.

He was a member of the Society for Preservation of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America, East Palestine Lodge 417, the Youngstown Shriners, the Ohio Farm Bureau, the Ruritan Club of Unity Township, and Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ.

Lipp was a past Unity Township trustee, a past Columbiana County Fair Board member, and was recently honored for his family-owned century farm.

In his spare time, he was an avid fisherman.

Lipp leaves his three daughters, Marilyn Geiss of East Palestine, Elizabeth Ambrose of Valley City, Oh., and Barbara Lipp of East Palestine, with whom he made his home; a son, Lee Lipp of East Palestine; a brother, Harold Lipp of East Palestine; a sister, Evelyn Johns of Zelienople, Pa.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way.

Besides his parents, Lipp was preceded in death by his wife Lois June (Wright) Lipp, whom he married Jan. 10, 1945 and who passed away Aug. 17, 1998; and two sisters, Eleanor Dykes and Elizabeth Powers.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 10 at Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ with the Rev. Melinda Q. Lacefield officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima and from 10 to 11 a.m. Jan. 10 at the church.
