DOVER, Ohio — Carl Edwin Finton, 95, passed away Jan. 29, 2009, in Country Club Retirement Campus, at Dover, where he resided for the past year.
Born Nov. 18, 1913, he was the son of the late Charles Clifford and Hattie Bahmer Finton.
Carl graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1931. Following graduation, Carl joined his family in the operation of their dairy farm, Carlene Farms, in Stonecreek Valley.
He was also an insurance representative for the former Sonnenberg Mutual Insurance Co., now a part of Lightning-Rod Mutual Insurance Co.
He was a member of the Tuscarawas County Farm Bureau and served as elder at Jerusalem Church.
He was also a member of the Central Ohio Breeding Association, the Ohio and National Holstein Association, the Dairy Herd Improvement Board and the Tuscarawas County Historical Society.
His wife, Arline (Baker) Finton, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his son, Cliff Finton; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Terry Downin led the funeral service Feb. 2 at Jerusalem Church.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Calling hours were Feb. 1 at Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory in New Philadelphia.
