YOUNGSTOWN — The Simply Slavic committee is seeking applicants from Youngstown State University.
Undergraduate YSU students who have completed their freshman year and are currently enrolled at YSU are encouraged to apply for the $500 scholarship.
All applicants will be required to submit a 500-word essay on how being Slavic affects your life.
Applicants need to be able to substantiate they are of at least 25 percent Slavic heritage.
This requirement is waived for members of YSU’s Slavic Student Association. Funds can be used for scholarships as well as applied to study abroad programs.
A panel of made up of members of the Simply Slavic organizing committee will select the winners after reviewing the essays, overall academic achievement, faculty recommendations and involvement in their culture.
The deadline for scholarship applicants is June 16. The winners will be announced at the organizational committee’s appreciation dinner in July. Applications are available at simplyslavic.org. For more information contact info@simplyslavic.org.
