HARRISBURG, Pa. — Lindsay Upperman of Chambersburg, Franklin County, took grand champion market steer honors with her 1,315-pound light heavyweight crossbred steer, Stetson, Jan. 8, at the 2012 Pennsylvania Farm Show.
Upperman, 19, was proud of her homebred and owned steer. “He’s my baby. That I bred him made it that much more sweet.”
Chris MacCauley of Atglen, Chester County, earned reserve champion market steer honors. MacCauley’s 1,325-pound crossbred steer was also from the light heavyweight class.
Dr. Doug Parrett from the University of Illinois judged 57 market steers.

Heifer show
Exhibitors from ages eight to 18 presented 205 beef heifers to judges Chip Kemp and Doug Parrett at this year’s Farm Show. No supreme champions are selected.
