Three Pennsylvania wool pools sell to Chargeurs

MERCER, Pa. — The three western Pennsylvania wool pools sold their producers’ wool to Chargeurs Wool of Jamestown, S.C. This was the high bid of four received.

Selling prices received per pound for the wool are:

  • 3/8 and 1/4 staple, 61 cents
  • 3/8 and 1/4 clothing, 45 cents
  • Low 1/4, 56 cents
  • 1/2 staple, 86 cents
  • Fine staple, $1.25
  • Fine and 1/2 clothing, 66 cents
  • Light vegetable matter, 52 cents
  • Heavy vegetable matter, 46 cents
  • Natural colored, 23 cents
  • Coming up

    The three wool pools will be held in June with the Lawrence County wool pool June 2-3 at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds, Route 108 between Harlansburg and New Castle.

    The Mercer County wool pool will be June 9-10 at the Stoneboro Fairgrounds on Route 62 in Stoneboro, Pa.

    The Washington County pool will be June 23-24 at the Washington County Fairgrounds.

    Marketing and handling fees vary with each pool and pool operating hours vary with each pooling site.
