RAVENNA, Ohio — McGuire Auctioneers held a surplus auction for the Ravenna School District April 2 with 360 registered bidders and more than 600 people in attendance.
Bidders included a movie production company, collectible traders, and souvenir hunters.
Highlights were a Hobart mixer that brought $1,080; a Hobart cooler that sold for $1,130; and fryers that went for $460 each.
Old shop stools sold for $80, oak office chairs for $100 and Logan shop lathes sold for $500.
A hand-powered coal cart that once fed the high school boilers sold for $300 to an out-of-state buyer.
The auction lasted over five hours with two rings selling for much of the day.
