HANOVERTON, Ohio — The Hicks & Hayseeds 4-H club met March 2. Members worked on a portable craft table, which is the club’s donation to the silent auction held every year at the Columbiana County Fair.

The meeting began with the treasurer’s report and the secretary’s report. Upcoming clinic dates were announced.

To conclude the meeting, several members gave demonstrations. First was Piper Cowden, who discussed making butter and supplied ingredients for each family to make their own butter to take home.

The next demonstrations were from Matthew, Weston and Kaitlyn Hoopes, who teamed up to tell the club how their family taps maple trees and makes syrup each year. To aid their demonstration, they brought bottles of sap, to show the stages that the sap goes through during production to syrup.
