COLUMBUS — The annual Professional Pork Producers Symposium will be held during the 2012 Ohio Pork Congress Feb. 8 at the Crowne Plaza North in Columbus. The symposium will address many issues that Ohio’s pork producers face today.
The seminar will feature speakers from across the nation, and cover topics from pork industry challenges and opportunities to management and housing. Registration will begin Feb. 8 at 7 a.m. The symposium will begin at 9 a.m. and last until 4 p.m.
Options
Topics will be as follows:
• Pen gestation: Finding the option that’s right for you.
• Herd management factors that influence whole herd feed efficiency.
• What does the future hold for Ohio pork producers?
• Packer audits — Will your farm pass?
• Feeding and barn management practices that maximize feed efficiency.
• Is China going to eat our lunch? Good or bad for pork producers?
• Phosphorus levels in rivers and lakes: Do livestock producers contribute to the problem?
• Immunological castration of pigs: What is it and how does it work?
• Weaning on 30 P/S/Y with electronic sow feeding.
Registration
Registration at the door is $60. The registration fee will include breakfast sandwiches, a buffet lunch and materials for the symposium, trade show and the Live Auction Reception following the symposium.
