GETTYSBURG, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Young Farmers Association will hold its annual winter conference Feb. 4-6, at the Wyndham Hotel, Routes 30 & 15, Gettysburg.
Tours
The Gettysburg Young Farmers chapter is hosting the conference. Tours are planned of Miller Chemicals, which manufactures and markets nonhazardous crop adjuvants and nutritional agrochemicals; and R.H. Sheppard, which manufacturers quality heavy duty steering gears.
Conference attendees will visit the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitors Center.
“Spokesperson for Agriculture” contestants will offer speeches, followed by an ice cream social.
Spouses will tour the Mary Penn Bed & Breakfast, Shriver House Museum and Hickory Bridge Farm.
Meeting
The PYFA annual business meeting will take place Feb. 5. President Bob Corman, of Centre Hall, will pass the gavel to president-elect Nathan Jamison, of Berlin, Pa.
Educational workshops include Farm Transitions, presented by Darlene Livingston, of Pa. Farm Link; Mobile Management Tools for Agriculture, by AT&T specialists; and Vermiculture (worms), presented by Mark Clowney and Craig Yingling.
Tours will visit “apple country,” with a tour of Bear Mountain/Bream Orchards; and EnergyWorks BioPower LLC, energy and nutrient recovery facility at Hillandale farm, in Adams Co.
