Ohio Fall Quality All Breeds sale held

WOOSTER, Ohio — A large crowd was on hand for the Ohio Fall Quality All Breeds Sale held Nov. 20 at the Wayne County Fairgrounds, Wooster, Ohio. The sale was co-managed by the Ohio Holstein Association and the Ohio Ayrshire Breeders Association.

An uddered two-year-old daughter of KHW Kite Advent-Red and from an Eclipse dam was the top seller of the day at $3700. Twining Advent Tessa was consigned by Raymond Twining and Family, Wellington, Ohio. Recently fresh and entered in the 2011 Ohio Holstein Futurity, she was purchased by Cole and Olivia Cummings, Sidney, Ohio.

Beach-Vale Advent Lauren consigned by Jacob Beachy, Jr., Millersburg, Ohio sold for $3500 also to Cole and Olivia Cummings, Sidney, Ohio. A two-year-old that had just recently calved, she was sired by KHW Kite Advent-Red from a Rubens dam, and carried a beautiful high wide rear udder and a great sweep of rib.

Also selling for $3500 was Springhill Firestarter, a three year old consigned by Springhill Farm, Big Prairie, Ohio. Already scored very good 88 with an excellent mammary, she was sired by Henkeseen Rippen-Red and her dam was scored excellent 90-2E and was the Reserve All American Milking Shorthorn Fall Yearling Heifer in 2004 and the Reserve All American Fall Calf in 2003. She was purchased by Fabian Almedia, Claybourne, Texas.

>Top Ayrshire

The high selling Ayrshire was Millers Stealth Beanie, a bred heifer due in December and consigned by Jack A Miller, Bradner, Ohio. Sired by Visserdale Stealth-ET from a very good 86 Laredo dam with records of 26290 milk 4.2 percent 1095 fat 3.3 percent 873 protein, she sold for $2100 to Fabian Almedia, Claybourne, Texas.

A total of 62 Holstein lots averaged $2350, 16 Ayrshire lots averaged $1230 and two milking Shorthorns averaged $1375. Cattle sold to Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Texas. Auctioneer for the sale was Steve Andrews, Wooster, Ohio.

Ted Renner, Dalton, Ohio read the Holstein pedigrees and Dru Mercer, Bryant, Indiana read the Ayrshire and milking Shorthorn pedigrees. Ringmen were Randall Kiko, Russell Kiko, Don Alexander, Ken Janes, and Dru Mercer. Cattle preparation was managed by Martin (Bud) Yoder.
