YOUNGSTOWN — Planners of the Men’s Rally in the Valley, a Christian men’s conference that debuted in 2010, have scheduled the 2011 Men’s Rally for May 7 at the Covelli Centre in downtown Youngstown.
Features
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and include six speakers and three music groups, all of whom will be announced in late January. Bishop George V. Murry, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown, will deliver the opening remarks and prayer.
Veteran radio personality Bob Popa, president of Bob Popa Entertainment, will again be the event’s host. The theme for Men’s Rally 2011 is Men at the Cross.
Prior attendance
Last year, some 3,500 men attended the first Men’s Rally, also at the Covelli Centre. Speakers included Dave Dravecky, a former professional baseball player and Boardman native, and the Rev. Gary Frost, a New York City pastor and Youngstown native.
Tickets for the 2011 event will again be $15. They are available for sale now on the Men’s Rally website at www.mensrally.org and will soon be available at local Christian bookstores and through several local churches, businesses and organizations.
The event is being organized entirely by volunteers. Those wishing to join the volunteer team can learn more at the website.
