COLUMBUS — The Local Food Policy Council statewide meeting will be April 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Agricultural Administration Auditorium, The Ohio State University, Columbus.
Keynote speaker is Mark Winne, Food Policy Council program director at the Community Food Security Coalition. He will talk about Food Policy Councils: Paving the Way for Food Democracy.
In the morning session, a panel of Ohio local food policy councils will answer questions.
Other topics include working with local decision-makers and developing a statewide network.
Local food policy council members can sign up for a time slot with author Winne to discuss questions related to food policy council work between 2:45 and 4:15 p.m.
Registration
The registration fee of $25 includes lunch, parking and Winne’s book Closing the Food Gap. Register early as space is limited to 120 guests. Registration and payment must be received by April 21.
Payment must be made by check, payable to The Ohio State University. No cancellations can be accepted after April 21.
Winne
Winne currently writes, speaks and consults extensively on community food system topics including hunger and food insecurity, local and regional agriculture, community food assessment and food policy. He also does policy communication and food policy council work for the Community Food Security Coalition.
