A study from a few years ago found that if you name your cows, they’ll give more milk.

In a study published in the scholarly journal Anthrozoos, two Newcastle University professors looked at 516 United Kingdom dairy farms, questioning the owners to find out how they treated their herds.

Forty-six percent of the farmers interviewed reported that they called each of their cows by name. On those farms, the cows produced 258 liters more milk than cows on farms that weren’t called by individual names.
