CAMBRIDGE, Ohio — Businesses and individuals along the Historic National Road will take part in the fifth annual dawn to dusk yard sale May 28 through June 1.

Sprinkled along the historic U.S. Route 40, stretching from Baltimore to St. Louis, this event features approximately 824 miles of bargains, antiques, fresh produce, furniture and more.

About the event

Designed to promote all that’s great about small-town America, the event continues to grow and serves as a unique opportunity for communities to attract visitors to more than great bargains.

In Ohio, Guernsey County will celebrate the event May 31 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout historic downtown Cambridge. Area residents are invited to bring items to Wheeling Avenue for sale.

In addition, Old Washington Heritage Days will take place in conjunction with the Historic National Road Yard Sale. At 6:30 a.m. a pancake breakfast sponsored by the fire department kicks the day off, followed by yard sales at 8 a.m. and from 2 to 6 p.m., a classic car show, 50/50 drawing and music.

Die-hard shoppers can even check the event’s Web site as its clock steadily ticks down to opening day. For first-timers, there is a yard sale survival kit with suggestions for everything from snacks, to a sense of humor, a U-Haul and even a strong guy for moving furniture.
