INDIANAPOLIS –The National FFA Organization announced Bill Fleet of Lititz, Pa., will become acting chief operating officer effective April 1.

Fleet retired in 2006 as vice president, North America sales, for Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc., Johnston, Iowa.

Prior to joining Pioneer in 1982, Fleet taught agricultural education for four years at the high school level and served as both FFA adviser and adviser for adult farmers in the Dover Area School District, Dover, Pa.

Fleet replaces Douglas Loudenslager, who is scheduled to leave the organization March 31. Loudenslager, who has led the organization for nearly five years, announced his decision to step down earlier this month.

Fleet will guide the organization during the time required to conduct a national executive search for a full-time chief operating officer.
