MILLERSBURG, Ohio — The West Holmes FFA sent eight members to participate in the District Food Science contest Nov. 24 at Mapleton. Juanita Miller, Victoria Eggers, Jaeden Roloff, Jillian Gurley, Jessica Gurley, Alyx Morris and Hailee Carter comprised teams that placed fifth and eighth overall. Individually, Miller tied for fifth place in the district. On Dec. 3, the chapter sent its senior parliamentary team of Marris Hoffee, Cade Patterson, Jarrett Snow, Chasidy Schmucker, Regina Miller and Becca Vales to the sub-district contest at Hillsdale. The team placed second and headed to the district parliamentary contest Dec. 8 at Lorain County JVS, where they placed fifth out of nine teams.

WEST SALEM, Ohio — On Dec. 5, Katie Stull, from the Northwestern FFA, competed in the state job interview contest in Columbus, where she placed seventh in her division, consisting of third-year members. The same day, members of the Food Science and Technology Career Development Event competed at the Parker Food Science Building at the Ohio State University Campus. Members of the team were Philip Eberly, Debbie Eberly, Lene Goodman, Kierstyn Wood, and alternate Sydney Harmon. The team placed 11th overall, with Philip Eberly placing first individually. Eberly will receive a $3,000 scholarship to OSU’s Food Science Program.

MEDINA, Ohio — On Nov. 15, the Black River FFA helped clean up the wooded cross-country path and youth cheerleading practice fields on the Black River School grounds, that had become affected by ash borer. Members and family volunteers worked together to fell, cut, and split more than 25 trees. FFA members delivered and stacked more than 13 truckloads of firewood to community members.

HANOVERTON, Ohio — The United FFA parliamentary procedure team traveled to Smithville for subdistricts Nov. 24, and received first. Then, the parliamentary procedure team went to Northwestern-Wayne school to compete in the district competition, where the chapter received fifth. The team consists of Austin White, Adrienne Bock, Rebecca Bock, Kelly Heffinger, McKenzie Walton, Becky Bernet and alternate Emma Snyder.
