WEST SALEM, Ohio — On June 16 and 17, the Northwestern FFA officers held their yearly retreat to plan for the upcoming year. Ally Ruegg, Adam Miley, Spencer Sloan, Zach Berry, Rachelle Howman, Emily Flinn, Shannon Garrison, Brittany Bunyak, Kaci Way, Faith Hudson, Sarah Maximovich, Shania Reed, Phil Eberly, Courtney Franks, McKayla Bunyak and Kierstyn Wood all attended this event.

The members picked up litter along the road at the Adopt-A-Highway site on state Route 302. MaKenzie Harmon, Katie Stull, Sydney Harmon, Victoria Devore and Kaylee Conoway also participated in the Adopt-A-Highway.

The officers then went to the Mohican Adventures campground for the day. The advisers, Dan Fulk and Heather Tegtmeier, took the members sightseeing around the area.

On May 24, the Hiland and West Holmes FFA chapters hosted sheep shows at the Holmes county fairgrounds. There were more than 148 lambs shown at the Hiland FFA Jackpot Show.

West Holmes was the Mid-Ohio Classic and had their show in the morning. Then, the Hiland Jackpot Sheep show was hosted in the afternoon.

Between the shows, both chapters hosted the showmanship classes. The showmanship classes were peewee, novice and 9-18 year olds..

At the show, we had commercial ewe, Hampshire, all other breeds, cross-breeds, naturals, Shropshires, and Dorsets as breed category classes.

In addition to those classes there was a white-face novice and a black-face novice for the novice kids. Grand overall was Bailee Amstutz, reserve champion was Meghann Winters. Third overall was Bailee Amstutz,  fourth overall was Meghann Winters, and fifth overall was Maggie Neer. Judge for the show was Tom Buckham.
