ASHLAND, Ohio — Ten members from the Crestview FFA traveled to the 81st FFA State Convention May 1.
While the Meats Team, consisting of Heath Gray, Loren Hulit, Sam Grauer, Jeb May, Abe Sauder and Andy Sloan competed at the state level, delegates Dale Shoup and James Dotterer attended the first session of the convention to receive the chapter’s Gold Medal Chapter Award.
Members and their adviser, Joel Albright, attended the second session and listened to keynote speaker Michael Peterson.
Also that night, the meats CDE results were posted. Leading the team was Andy Sloan with a 10th place finish. The team placed 11th.
The next day, members watched as Alicia Metzger, Sam Grauer, Loren Hulit, Abe Sauder, Janey Fulk, and Misty Hale received their State Degrees.
CRESTON, Ohio — The Norwayne FFA held “fun night” April 22, where they invited the eighth graders taking the Agricultural Education class next year. There were 29 members present.
Activities played were basketball, volleyball, and dodge ball.
Then May 11, the Norwayne FFA visited Smithville FFA for a softball game. Norwayne won 7-2.
ALLIANCE, Ohio — The Marlington FFA chapter met at the horticulture building May 14 with six members and five guests present.
Items on agenda included: community service, national convention, fundraisers and the annual pig roast.
The next meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. June 11.
BELOIT, Ohio — West Branch FFA held its annual Food for America field trip with fourth grade students going to three different farms to see what farming was all about.
Members showed the students around the farms, answered questions and demonstrated farm life.
The three farms participating included the Martigs, Connys and Bruhners.
