ALLIANCE, Ohio — The Marlington FFA chapter held its monthly meeting Sept. 11. There were several guests and new members at the meeting.
The alumni also met having two new members join.

Items on the agenda included freshman orientation, flag football, officer leadership conference, national convention, Greenhand camp, official dress and ag independent study reports.

The next meeting is Oct. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the horticulture building. Guests are invited.

ALBANY, Ohio — The Alexander FFA attended the Chapter Officer Leadership Training Conference Sept. 10 in Columbus. Members heard from motivational speaker Andrew McCrea on how to become a great leader by being a good listener. After the conference the chapter went to the Statehouse for a tour.

Members attending the conference were Michael Reeve, Zach Crabtree, Kara Oberholzer, Noelle Eveland, Kathy Kasler, Kara Endick and Ben Smith.

WELLINGTON, Ohio — Members of the Wellington FFA chapter did well with their fair projects at the 2008 Lorain County Fair.

This year’s president, Lauren Fehlan, was crowned Jr. Fair Queen. She also received the Champion Beef Breeding Award, reserve champion Cow and Calf, first place in Senior Showmanship, winner of the Large Animal Sweepstakes, and the FFA Crop Award.

The Market Lamb Rate of Gain award went to this year’s reporter, Jillian Auble. She was also awarded the runner-up for the Interview Judging gift certificate in the Market Lamb Department.

First year member, Cassie Gleisner, was awarded the Supreme Champion Dairy Cow, grand champion Dairy Cow, Supreme Showmanship winner, Senior Showmanship winner, Class Champion Aged Cow, and senior champion Dairy Cow.

Other members who received awards were Kellie Younglas, second place Beginner Dairy Showmanship and Katy Derrick, Horticulture Award.
