MIDDLEFIELD, Ohio –On Oct. 25, the Geauga Dairymen 4-H club, along with their families enjoyed lunch together and went to Derthick’s corn maze and animal experience.
The club held a business meeting Nov. 29. The club voted to help with the “Fill a Cop Car” program Dec. 12. Members will shop for non-perishable foods and donate the items to help feed people in need.
The club voted to have a new sign made to hang at the fair. This year the Jr. Fair Livestock Sale will be split, small animals will be sold in a tent next to the pygmy goats at 4 p.m. Dairy baskets and large animals will be sold in the arena at 6 p.m.
Members were given certificates and pins acknowledging their years in 4-H. The club was awarded its sixth year honor club at the 4-H member recognition ceremony in October.
The club elected this year’s officers: Rachel S., president; Dakota W., vice president; Kalyn W., secretary; Shelly L., treasurer; : Jordyn B., news reporter; Devon B., safety officer; Tony B., health officer and Max Z., recreation officer.
NEWBURY, Ohio — Geauga Beef and Swine 4-H club held its first meeting for the year 2010. The club elected new officers for the year and they are: Caitlin Jefferson as president, Jordan Munn as vice president, Kelsey Rumburg as secretary, Amber Sangrik as treasurer, Molly Messner as news reporter, Delaney Lichtman as health and safety, Sarah Anderson as community service and Seth Messner as hostess.
The club also discussed when the meetings will be and they voted on the third Sunday of every month at 4 p.m. starting at the first of the year and going until the fair.
They discussed that steer tagging was held Dec. 5 at the fairgrounds. They also discussed when the end picnic will be and the chose the month September. The club also collected canned goods for the county home.
MOUNDSVILLE, Ohio — The Ridge Runners 4-H club met Dec. 8 for their annual Christmas party at the Bowman Ridge Community Center.
The meeting was called to order by Janis Williamson. Pledges were said and the treasurer’s report was given by leader Annette Clark. Samantha White read the minutes from the November meeting.
New business discussed was first and second year day camp, officer’s training, and the Dairy Club meeting held Dec. 12.
The Goat and Rabbit Club meeting and shooting sports are slated for Dec. 17.
Shannen Chambers was elected as the new secretary.
Every year the club makes fruit baskets to give to the elderly neighbors, family and friends of the club members.
The Cloverbuds Club also met at this time. The members also participated in a gift exchange.
Their next meeting will be Jan. 12 at the Bowman Ridge Community Center.
HIRAM, Ohio — Breeders and Feeders 4-H club held its reorganizational meeting at the Burton Fire Department Nov. 15.
Election of officers was held with Tracey Tiechman elected president, Jim Piras, vice president, Joe Collum, secretary and Ryan Ivans, treasurer. Other positions were appointed also. The club then decorated place mats for the Geauga County Department on Aging Christmas dinners.
Discussion was also held on what could be expected of the members this year. For members taking steers to fair, tag-in was held Dec. 5.
