HARRISBURG, Pa. — Senator Elder Vogel Jr. was appointed by President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati, to be the new Chairman of the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee.
Committee purpose
The committee considers legislation and holds hearings on issues pertaining to agriculture in Pennsylvania and provides review and oversight on regulations proposed by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.
“In a short amount of time, Elder has become known in the Senate for his expertise on a wide range of issues affecting agriculture. As a citizen-legislator and 4th generation dairy farmer, Elder not only knows agriculture, he lives it every day,” Scarnati said.
“I am honored to be appointed by Senator Scarnati to be the new Chairman of the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee,” Senator Vogel said.
