Country estate auctioned for $700,000

– Auctioneer Eugene F. Kiko of Russ Kiko Associates Inc. Auctioneers, Canton, Ohio, held the Robert L. Hunker trust auction July 18 in Waynesburg, Ohio, with 650 registered bidders.

The 73-acre country estate sold for $700,000.

The top-selling item was a New Holland 6610 diesel tractor that sold for $21,000.

Other highlights included a Steinway Duo-Art Pianola player piano for $9,000; a Welsh oak sideboard for $8,500; hunting scene furniture for $3,100; a 1931 “Billiardette” table for $2,750 and a walnut oval banquet table with 10 Chippendale-style chairs for $2,750.

There was intense competition for several items, with one being a home six-piece wicker set that sold for $1,800.

The home furnishings, tractor and maintenance equipment totaled more than $150,000.

Kiko estimated a crowd of more than 1,200 for the auction that lasted six hours.

– Auctioneer Randy Compton of Russ Kiko Associates Inc. Auctioneers also held an auction July 18 for the Howdershelt family in Lordstown, Ohio, with 105 registered bidders.

Highlights included a hayliner square bailer for $1,450 and a N8 tractor for $1,400.

Other top sellers included round bailers and antiques.

According to Compton, all items brought fair market value and then some.

– Auctioneer Nick Cummings of Schrader Real Estate and Auction Co. Inc., Columbia City, Ind., held the Waycar Farms Inc. farm equipment auction July 25 in Circleville, Ohio.

The top-selling item was a Case IH MX-240 tractor that sold for $70,000.

Other highlights included a John Deere 9500 combine for $70,000, a Case IH 7130 tractor for $44,000 and a Kinze 2500 8/15 row planter for $28,250.

– Auctioneers John L. Hayes, Kathrine M. Hayes and Brian D. Lewis of Edinburg Auction Sales Inc., Rootstown, Ohio, held an auction July 25 in Ravenna by the order of Linda Wheaton. There were 219 registered bidders present.

The real estate, an 1870s three bedroom, two bathroom home on five acres, sold for $140,000.

The top-selling item was a 2004 New Holland T224DA 4×4 loader tractor that sold for $10,800.

Other highlights included a DR 13 HP field and brush mower for $2,000 and a Maytag wringer washer for $275.

According to the auctioneers, it rained pretty hard for about 45 minutes, but the crowd was prepared with umbrellas and ponchos and stuck around to the end.
