Canning workshop coming to Geauga

CHARDON, Ohio — Ohio State University Extension and the Geauga County Farm Bureau will present “Canning 101” from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Aug. 1 at the Patterson Center, 14269 Claridon-Troy Road at the Patterson Center in Burton on the fairgrounds.

Food preservation. Beth Stefura, Extension Educator for Mahoning County will discuss all aspects of food preservation including canning and freezing in our demonstration kitchen.

Free class

The class is free and open to the public. Additionally OSU Extension will be testing pressure gauges starting June 1 until Sept. 11.

Owners can bring in their lid any time during regular OSU Extension hours from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and will be called for pick-up and the results.

Label your gauges. Gauges must be labeled with the owner’s name and phone number.
