YOUNGSTOWN — Raelyn Ruppel, a senior fine arts major at The University of Akron will display her photography project, The Beauty and Tragedy of Decline, at the Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Ave. in Youngstown.
Details
The series is about the evolution of a once-booming industrial state that has been overcome by ruins. The photographs were taken in northeast Ohio and capture places that were once at the heart of a thriving economic epicenter and now have been neglected.
Included in the exhibit are images of prisons, pottery factories, restaurants, inns, cement plants, brick works, train yards, entertainment venues and a coast guard station.
The exhibit will run through May 15. The Arms Family Museum is open Tuesday-Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is $4 for adults; $3 for senior citizens and college students; and $2 for children. Visit www.mahoninghistory.org or call 330-743-2589 for more information.
