Do you know someone who has become a hero to you? If so, why is that person a hero to you? What makes a hero?
As a young boy, I remember some of my heroes. They were all very special people. Let me share a few of them with you.
One of my greatest heroes was my father. My father was a very hard-working man. There weren’t too many things he could not fix. If my father needed a special tool and did not have it, he would make it.
I always marveled at his abilities. I always wanted to be like him. He was my number one hero in my life. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t use, or remember, something he taught me.
It is always a good feeling when someone tells me that I resemble my father. He was my hero.
Growing up, I had many other heroes in my life such as Charles Atlas. Charles Atlas was a body builder many years ago. As a young boy, I mailed in his coupon and 25 cents, and he mailed me his secrets for building a good body. He became one of my heroes.
I always enjoyed boxing when I was in school. At that time Joe Louis was the world heavyweight champion. I wanted to box like Joe Louis did. As a young man, he became another one of my heroes.
In my junior high and high school days, I was a shot-put thrower on our school’s track team. At that time, Perry O’Brien was the champion shot put thrower in the nation. He became another one of my heroes.
All of these heroes are gone now. However, they left a great impression on my life I have never forgotten.
We just never know what kind of an impression we are leaving on others. It could well be that you are someone’s special hero. The Bible teaches us to live our lives every day so that others will see God’s love living in us. Remember God created you and you are special.
