Think About It: A Good Summer

I cannot believe how quickly the summer of 2011 passed by. It seems like just a few weeks ago that we planted our garden, and now it is all gone and cleaned up for another year.

We still have a few green tomatoes on our patio that are sitting on our picnic table trying to ripen. This was not a good year for our garden, so next year we are going to relocate it and try again.

Around our community here in Hartville, the leaves are beginning to fall and it will not be long until we will be raking leaves again and getting ready for winter.

It was a real pleasure to meet many of our Farm and Dairy family this past summer. My wife Myrna and I enjoyed our Farm and Dairy assignments such as the Family Fun Day in Sugarcreek and also our time at the Canfield Fair in Canfield, Ohio.

We met several people who told us how much they enjoyed reading the paper and looked forward to receiving the paper weekly in their homes. Many told us they would not be without it and that they had been receiving it for many years.

It was also my pleasure to meet many of you on Mondays at the Hartville Marketplace. Thank you very much for stopping at the booth to say hello and a special thanks to those who purchased a subscription for the Farm and Dairy newspaper.

Beginning Sept. 21, 2011 we will be at the Mount Hope Sale in Mount Hope, Ohio, every other Wednesday. We will look forward to meeting you and serving you with this great newspaper.

I am convinced there are still many kind and wonderful people in our world today. Often we hear too much of the negative about others instead of the positive. Perhaps we could make our world a little better if we would begin to express our love, concern and appreciation for others.

I like the words of Margaret Fuller when she said, “Next to beauty is the power of appreciating it.”

Take time out of your busy day once in a while and show your appreciation to someone. You will brighten their day and yours will be brighter also.
“Cleave to that which is good” Romans 12:9.
