Hello from Hazard!
Richard Bader, of Middletown, New York, thinks David Miller, of Louisville, Ohio, was correct on Item No. 1164. It was to make french-style string beans.
We didn’t hear anything else on Item No. 1165, emailed to us by Gail Kray, of Bay Village, Ohio.
We had two respond last week that it is a water table for a wash bowl.
We will move on to Item No. 1166. It was sent in by Bader who found it in his barn. He said it has been there since 1954. The roller goes left to right. It is 3 1/2 feet high, 6 feet long and 35 inches wide.
Do you know what it is or how it was used? Email us at editorial@farmanddairy.com; or by mail to: Hazard a Guess, c/o Farm and Dairy, P.O. Box 38, Salem, OH 44460.
The US Postal Service is already playing hob with rural deliveries. For instance, I’ve subscribed to F&D for many many years. Normally I receive the paper on Thursdays. In the past 6 weeks, I have received it twice on Friday, once on Saturday, and even once the following week on Tuesday and there were no holidays involved. Any events or activities happening on Friday or Saturday, I certainly missed out on attending.
Maybe a solution would be for those wanting notices of activities and/or events to appear in the F&D, an earlier deadline time is needed so those articles could be in the F&D a week ahead of the event.
