Recently, my wife, Myrna, spent some time in the Akron City Hospital in Akron, Ohio. We did not plan to go there. However, we never know when our health will break and we end up in the hospital.
In just a few weeks, Myrna and I will celebrate our 53rd wedding anniversary. I often kid her and tell her if she leaves me now, I’m going with her. We have had a great marriage, and we are looking forward to many more happy years together as husband and wife.
During our 53 years of marriage, I don’t think Myrna has missed a day reading her Bible. Her Bible is a major part of her life. She has shared with me, and the rest of our family over the years, many promises from God’s Word. It has truly been a wonderful blessing to everyone just at the time we needed it. Myrna has taught all of us to live by the promises of God’s Holy Word. She is a true student of the Bible, God’s Word.
While I was sitting with my wife during her hospital stay, I looked through her Bible, and once again, I noticed the many notes and markings. I could tell she had spent many days and hours in God’s Word.
What does your Bible mean to you? Is it a major part of your life? How often do you read and study your Bible? Our Bible is the inspirational direction for our lives.
Every time I read my wife’s Bible and read her notes, I receive a great blessing. Her favorite promise is from Jeremiah 29:11 and reads, “For I know the thoughts I think toward you, says the Lord. Thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
