Forrest’s Mama always said that life is like a box of chocolates, and you never know what you’re going to get. Wrong answer, lady.
I’ll explain: If you give me a piece of chocolate, I know I’m going to enjoy it. If you give me a pound of chocolate, I know I’m staring a belly ache right in the face.
Wait, she was talking about chocolate, right?
Have you ever loved something so much that you get sidetrack — Squirrel!! Someone said ‘chocolate.’
Happy Valentine’s Day, y’all! What a day for chocolate lovers, and well, lovers in general, I guess. Whether it’s a fancy heart-shaped box you buy at the grocery store, a box of fine chocolates bought from your favorite chocolatier or even one of those bouquets of chocolate-dipped fruits, chocolate rules the Valentine scene. According to cnn.com, an estimated $1.6 billion will be spent on Valentine’s Day candy this year.
Americas’ husbands, wives and significant others are in for a real treat. 1.6 billion treats, to be exact. 50 percent of American V-day consumers plan to include chocolates/candy in their gifts.
With that being said, I have a Valentine’s Day secret to share instead of a recipe this week. Ok. Are you ready? There’s a secret place in Boardman, Ohio, called Gorant Chocolatier. Go there. Take cash. I don’t care if you’re buying a Valentine’s Day gift for your sweetheart, your mom, your mailman or yourself, this is the answer. Gorant. Head to the counter where you buy candy by the pound and get their chocolate-covered stemmed cherry cordials. Make sure they have their stems. Unfortunately, I do not see them on their website. All I see are the regular cordials. There’s a difference.
These babies will make you famous. They aren’t your typical chocolate covered cherries that come in a red box from the drug store for five bucks. You’re going to spend some green on these. And then you’re going to go back and spend even more … like I do.
Happy Valentine’s Day, and… you’re welcome.
Go make something awesome,
Jen
