Hello from Hazard!
Sorry to have to shame you last week into responding on item No. 840, but it must’ve worked because four readers responded with a similar answer and three others hazard-ed another guess.
So, the whopping four-reader consensus is that the long-handled gizmo is a tool for removing slate from a roof. Those who separately agreed on its use included: Kaye Brown, Mount Chestnut, Pa.; James Cogar, Canton, Ohio; Walter Fahrny, Rootstown, Ohio; and an anonymous reader who simply drew an arrow toward the green M&M on the note paper and signed it “me.” And that’s a new one for hazard, but anyone who relates to a green M&M is A-OK in our book.
