These fan favorite coney dogs are sure to be a treat at the tailgate! You can even adapt this recipe to make a gruesome Severed Finger Chili Dog for your Halloween festivities!
Ingredients
- hotdog buns
- super hot dogs (boiled or grilled)
- mustard
- 3 Day Old Chili
- Cheddar cheese, shredded
- onions, diced
- Other toppings such as ketchup, tomatoes, sauerkraut, relish, as desired
Directions
Open buns and slather mustard on bun. Slice hot dogs lengthwise and place on buns. Cover with chili and top with cheese and onions.
Variation: Halloween Severed Finger Dogs: Before cooking your hotdogs on the grill or in a pan, cut a thin square of the hot dog skin off of one end of each hot dog to form the fingernail. Make two sets of evenly placed small shallow cuts to form knuckles on the fingers. Cook as you’d like, Place hot dogs in buns spread a small amount of the chili topping or drizzle ketchup to give the dogs a gruesome appearance. Serve more chili and other toppings on the side.
