Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds lean ground pork
- 1/4 applesauce
- 1/4 ketchup
- 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
- 3/4 seasoned dry bread crumbs
- 1/4 grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
Directions
In large bowl, blend together all ingredients well. Form into a 7×4 1/2×2-inch loaf; place in cooker. Cover and cook on High 4 hours or on Low 8-10 hours, until a meat thermometer inserted reads 160°. Carefully remove pork loaf from cooker (see following tip); let cool 10 minutes before slicing to serve. Serves 6.
Tip: To ease removal of the pork loaf from the slow cooker, fold two 24-inch-long pieces of aluminum foil in half lengthwise, then in half lengthwise again. Place strips across each other, forming a cross in the bottom of a 3 1/2 or 4-quart slow cooker. Press strips against the inside of the slow cooker, letting ends hang over the outside.
A family favorite “”meat loaf”” cooks all day and provides leftovers for sandwiches tomorrow. Serve with buttered broccoli spears and mashed potatoes.
