FENTON, Mo. – At least a dozen or more employees of equipment dealerships found their homes completely destroyed following a tornado that leveled nearly all of Greensburg, Kan., May 4.
Two dealerships – Greensburg Farm Supply and Greensburg Tractor and Implement – also were destroyed in the storm that packed 200 mph winds and produced a funnel cloud estimated between 1.4 miles and 1.7 miles wide.
The Equipment Dealers Foundation is requesting donations to assist the employees of the Greensburg dealerships.
“It’s grim,” said Jim Meinhardt, a Kansas dealer and Equipment Dealers Foundation chairman.
“A lot of people need a lot of help.”
The Equipment Dealers Foundation Disaster Relief Fund was established by the North American Equipment Dealers Association and its affiliated associations to provide financial grants to equipment dealers and their employees in disaster areas for losses not covered by insurance and property damaged or destroyed.
Grants from the fund may be used for food, living expenses, temporary accommodation, home repair, home replacement, permanent home construction, transportation accommodation and other approved needs.
