SUGARCREEK, Ohio – A queen and a princess were crowned at the 2005 Tuscarawas County Pork Producers annual banquet March 17 in Sugarcreek, Ohio.
Brooke Bowers, of Dover, Ohio, was crowned queen. She is currently attending Aultman Hospital School of Radiology.
The new queen has shown hogs for 10 years and raises her own pigs for her 4-H projects. She has served as camp counselor and a member of the junior fair board.
Princess. Maggie Bichsel, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, was crowned princess. An eighth-grader at Welty Middle School, she is active in band and choir and enjoys softball, track, volleyball, and painting.
Bichsel has shown hogs for six years.
Court. Members of the royal court were Brittany Bowers and Molly Lawless, both of Dover, Ohio.
Ruth Graef and Greg Ellwood were elected to the board of directors. They will join three other board members, Courtney Spillman, Pam Bleininger and Sam Raber, who have a year remaining of their two-year term.
Scholarships. Pork scholarships are available for Tuscarawas County youth who are involved in some form of agriculture study. For more information contact Dorothy Lahmers at 740-498-7113.
Entertainment was by Vane Scott of Newcomerstown who presented a program on “The Many Faces of Old Glory.”
